April 24 Meeting Re-cap and CDM update

Enthusiastic Art Quilters,

Thanks to everyone who has participated in the Children's Discovery Museum quilt project. To date we have had 18 members and non members working through GreatFul Threads on this effort. Saturday we had Sandi Sugg's Piecemaker's Bee (PBs) at the museum along withVista, Karen and myself. The Piecemaker Bee members attending were Sandi Suggs, Sandy Rathjen, Susan Dodd, and Linda Meck.  Below you will find pictures of our fun afternoon. We have 2 more Saturday's to work with the children, May 3 and 10. I will send a reminder along with a parking permit to those signed up. If you would like to attend please let me know, we can always use more help.

We had a good April meeting at the Bernina Sew and Quilt Studio tonight. Show 'n Tell was excellent as always and our basket techniques were great lessons in how to. It never ceases to amaze me what we can do either by hand or with a sewing machine. If you were not able to attend tonight send me an email and I will choose your techniques for the month of May.

Jackie Cory will be teaching a class at Hyder Hangout in Cleveland on "Crazy Patch Techniques and Embrodiery, May 3rd from 1:00-4:00. The cost is $32.50 which includes some materials. The address if 219 First Street, Cleveland. Call Susan Hyder to register or register online.

I do hope the natural colors of Spring are encouraging you in your ability to choose your own fiber art colors. Whenever you get stumped about what colors to use, simply look to nature, the inspiration is boundless.

Don't forget to attend the exhibit, "From the Earth" at Relections Gallery, 6922 Lee Hwy. Our very own, Delores Dady and her husband are featured through May 30.

Everyday take time to create,

Denise

Quilting at Children's Discovery Museum

What a fun afternoon we had at the Children's Discovery Museum on Saturday. The children made quilt blocks to go into the two quilts we are making as well as a block to take home. Thanks to the work our members did beforehand preparing kits our session was smooth and easy. The pics below document our day. We will be there again Saturday the 19th, planting the quilting bug into the next generation.

Take time to create,

Denise
