What a fun meeting marbling fabric with shaving cream and Tsukineko ink. |
Put down a layer of shaving cream, drop the ink and swirl. |
We used combs and hair picks. After swirling you get great designs on tips of comb. |
Brenda brought tone on tone fabric. It added depth to the design . |
Vista's design after heat setting with an iron. |
Tsukineko all purpose ink dropped on shaving cream before marbling. |
Wear rubber gloves, this ink is permanent. |
Love the black, it gives the eye a point to rest. |
We had a full table of members and supplies! |
Good to have Martha Ooten with us. She was Sandi's assistant. |
Immediately after scraping shaving cream, heat set to prevent ink from bleeding (unless of course you want it to bleed!) |
Margaret has one finished and is on to the next design. |
Rorschach test? |
This technique is addictive. It's like Christmas when you scrap off the shaving cream. You never know what's underneath! |
Thanks to everyone who brought ink and supplies to share. |
Different combs give different designs.
It will be wonderful to see what everyone makes with their marble dyed fabric. |
This piece was left at the iron. Will bring it to June meeting, Susan's maybe? |
Show 'N Tell. Delores made these great origami folded purses. |
Sandi is working teeny tiny. Design on left will be a pillow top. |
April meeting was Zentangle. Sandi's initial. Great job! |
Martha breeds animals for fiber. Shawl she is knitting is wool from her rabbit. |
Martha Steele's bag from a previous year Round Robin. Her inspiration was a Pete the Cat book.
Back side of Martha's bag. |
Martha was doodling only to discover her design had already been made into bathroom tiles! |
Another bag in progress. This one with free motion stitching all in black. |
Vista went to the Mary Kerr workshop on using vintage fabric and blocks in Modern quilting. |
Vista went to the second Mary Kerr workshop. Vintage handkerchiefs were used for this one. |
Melissa is teaching a class on free motion quilting. |
Close up of Melissa's free motion piece. She is good at this. |
Susan's nephew graduated and this is his gift. |
Close up of Susan's nautical theme quilt. |
